I hope he doesn't mind but I want to point out club member Charles McGrue. He won the 2003 NPC Collegiate Nationals Overall and is a National level competitive bodybuilder.
The gym closest to my apartment is a 24 hour Fitness and it is the one I usually train at for convenience reasons. One early morning a few years ago I saw Charles training in there doing deadlifts. I recognized him almost immediately (of course we had covered the event in the club). Needless to say he was the biggest guy in the gym---we don't get National level bodybuilders usually in the Fremont 24 Hour Fitness. What was impressive about Charles besides his awesome size and the weight he was handling was the perfect form he used in completing each rep. Every repetition was textbook, his back flat throughout the motion, breathing spot on. Lastly, despite the fact that Charles had stacked lots of weight on the bar and had done several grueling sets he carefully racked all of the weights he used.
At this particular gym, a lot of the guys who lift the biggest NEVER put their weights away. I often find myself picking up after them. At least I can lift most of the heavier weights and its hard to watch some of members struggling to move weights they never took out just so they can work out with a piece of equipment.
Anyway, I was so impressed I walked up and thanked Charles. He was an incredibly nice guy and talked to me a few minutes as he prepared for his next exercise. I don't know if I mentioned recognizing him or not but it was very cool to meet a guy that treated the environment and fellow gym members with such respect. He really classed the gym up!!!
At any rate, I wanted to thank him for posting recently, it's always good to hear from him and I'm really pleased he is a member of the club. I would also like to point members to his website FIT2START. It is a bodybuilding and fitness community type website that has good training information and ways to share information between members. Membership is free. It looks like it is just getting started and could develop into a really valuable tool. Certainly one of the people behind it is a classy guy with high level training and competing experience!

Thank you very much Don for the compliments and positive notoriety; I really do appreciate it. As for www.fit2start.com, you are right, it is a bodybuilding and fitness community that is relatively new. It is where I intend to post all that I have learned over the years, and share as much as I can with anyone who is willing to read and listen.
I honestly believe that with all the methods of training that is out there, when it comes down to it, there is nothing better than the basics and correct form while doing the basics. I'm still training at 24, but have been bouncing around between San Ramon, San Leandro, Newark and Fremont. And I'm still willing to lend a helping hand to those that don't mind.
Thank you again, and all are very much welcome to be a part of www.Fit2Start.com.
