Thanks a ton Don.

First the good new, my arms are already feeling better. Don, I use dumbells a lot for biceps. I was wondering if I should be lifting those at an angle so my palms won't be upwards thus giving me more of an EZ curl (turned inwards) angle. Any suggestions. I think I'll still lay of biceps for this week just to be safe.

Hammer curls (DB vertical) are supposed to be least stressful on the elbows, but any inward rotation would be better than a straight bar, like Done wrote. I've read that the biceps are activated more by the motion of a straight bar though, so it's apparently a trade off of elbow strain or muscle activation. My suggestion would be to rest until you think you're ready, then try hammer curls.

I've noticed that some of this spam is someone spamming several groups to advertise their blog with general info we all probably know.

It is a little annoying, but when I see sub-amateur stuff, I just ignore it. However, the moderators have been doing a pretty good job staying on top of things. Unfortunately, some things do tend to fall through the cracks.

Cheers and hope all is good with everyone.

We apologize for this. There are a few explanations that we can think of.

1. One of our accounts has been hacked into and someone is using them to okay messages we normally wouldn't. Not likely, we both changed our passwords and haven't noticed any other suspicious activity.

2. There is a group owner who was active back when the group was formed but has been dormant. We've noticed this account has been active again recently. How you can build arm muscles properly
Arm Exercises For Beginning Bodybuilders
Most people new to bodybuilding pay a lot of attention to building big arms,
sometimes to the point of overtraining. Don't forget, the arm muscles are
brought into play during most exercises aimed at other body parts so care must
be taken not to overdo things.

Having said that, the arms are complex body parts in their own right and
deserve a properly focused exercise program. In basic terms the arm consists of
three main muscle groups:

1. Biceps brachii - two muscles at the front upper arm that run from the elbow
to the shoulders.

2. Triceps brachii - three muscles at the rear upper arm that run from the
elbow to the shoulder.

3. Forearm - several smaller muscles that run from the elbow to the wrist.

There are seven classic exercises that will allow beginners to get off to a
good muscle building start without overstraining their bodies. For all of the
exercises that follow, use a weight that is light enough to allow between 10-15
reps.

Three biceps building exercises are recommended for beginners:

Build Big Strong Shoulder Muscles For V Shape Upper Body – Build Big Deltoids

We shall discuss how to build big shoulder muscles in this article. You see,
you may have a wonderful six pack abs or well defined chest muscles, but when
you are in your street clothes, no one can see them. But if you have that
massive V shape with bulging shoulder muscles, your body frame will tell the
world that under those clothes is a well defined body of a gym warrior.

Most people think that in order to get that V shaped upper body like comic book
super heroes, they only have to develop big broad back muscles and lats. Well,
by having broad back muscles and well developed lats is only part of the
equation to get a V shape upper body. For complete V shape upper body
development, you will also need to build a powerful chest, big strong shoulder
muscles or commonly called deltoids or delts for short and a slim waist.

As with building any muscles in your body, intensity is the key to building big
deltoids. Your shoulder muscles are made up primarily of the anterior deltoid
(front delt), medial deltoid (middle delt) and posterior deltoid (back delt).
All 3 parts of your shoulder muscles must be targeted to build well defined and
big strong deltoids that threaten to burst through your shirt. The problem here
is that most people do not know that they must work on all 3 shoulder muscles
and do most shoulder workouts by just concentrating on the anterior delts with
exercises such as military press. Furthermore, working only on anterior delts
could lead to over training your shoulder muscles because many other exercises
like the bench press, dips and push ups also recruit shoulder muscles for its
movements.

If your are looking for bodybuilding workouts for size and shape
you have come to the right place. Too many people waste time and fluff
in the gym. You are obviously different or ready to take your muscle
building to the next level if you are researching bodybuilding workouts
for size. Lets get right down to it and find the best bodybuilding
workouts for you.Bodybuilding Workouts For Size Is Not LinearIf
you are wondering what I mean in the above statement, you are right to
be confused. It is a bit cryptic. What I basically mean, is that muscle
building does not happen in a constant, continuous fashion. As in, you
do not just get bigger on a constant basis. Is that clearer? I hope it
is.Without boring you, I am trying to say that you must alter
your bodybuilding workouts for size accordingly. Doing the same workouts
will not give you constant muscle gains. You need to use strength
training workouts and other various training styles. In doing so,
you will get little growth spurts. It may not be constant gains but it
prevents you from plateauing and spinning on your wheels. Also it feels
great when you take these little growth phases.Volume Training And Intensity WorkoutsTime
and time again, proven bodybuilding workouts for size, are volume
training and intensity workouts. This is mainly due to the fact that,
they force the muscles to work hard and cause a lot of damage during the
workouts. Your muscles have no option to recover and grow afterward.Of
course you must pay attention to the first tip, meaning if you
constantly do one type of workout. Your muscle building gains will
eventually stall and stop. Now that does not sound to good my friend now
does it? Not to worry though, as I can help you avoid this.Bodybuilding Workouts For Size Is Part Of The SolutionThis
is where I bring everything together for you and help you choose the
best bodybuilding workouts for size. Or more importantly help you create
a bodybuilding workout routine. This is where you do not follow a bunch
of workouts thrown together with no end goals. But follow a complete
routine with muscle mass being the end goal. The way to constantly
increase muscle mass and size is to combine periods of volume training
and strength training. Remember how we discussed that increasing muscle
mass is not linear? Therefore by following periods of volume and
strength you are constantly hitting your body with different training
styles. You build up strength for while, then use that extra strength to
build more muscle (this is your growth spurt). You then use that
extra muscle mass to build more strength by causing neural adaptations
with that new muscle tissue. Then rinse and repeat. All this equals; constant and never ending strength and muscle gains. Sound good? Of course it does.

Back Exercises For Beginning BodybuildersWhat should the bodybuilder at the
beginning of a return to the workouts?
For instance it is:
From a bodybuilder's perspective one of the most important body areas is the
back. Not only can it be visually impressive but a strong back is essential for
intensive training and day to day living. In bodybuilding you are aiming for
three things with regard to developing the back muscles:

- Thickness of the upper back (traps).

- Wide lats.

- Highly defined lower back (spinal erectors and lower lats).

As a beginner there are five essential exercises for developing these muscles
quickly:

1. Dumbbell shrugs - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. This exercise will develop the
traps.

2. Seated V-bar cable rows - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. This exercise will develop
the mid upper back.

3. Bent over barbell rows - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. This exercise will add
thickness to the upper back.

4. Pullups - Aim for 25 reps. This exercise will strengthen the entire back.

5. Pulldowns - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. This exercise will define the lats.

As with all exercises you need to take care in scheduling specific body parts.
To begin with you should incorporate your back exercises into a program
similar to the one suggested below:

Day 1: Biceps, Back, Abs

Day 2: Hamstrings, Shoulders, Abs

Day 3: Quads, Forearms, Calves

Day 4: Triceps, Chest, Abs

For the first couple of weeks complete one set but then add one set each week
to a maximum of three. At the end of three months you will be ready to move on
to more intensive intermediate level exercises.

That is correct Medial Epicondylitis, go see you your Chiropractor and get
treatment and therapy. I believe cold laser therapy helps with this condition.

Thanks a ton guys,

Definitely I will stop training the area until the pain stops and use anti-inflamatories. Wade, I'm in a small town (North Battleford, Canada) so I won't have a ton of chiroptractors to choose from, but I'll ask around. Worse comes to worse, I'm an hour twenty away from a city (Saskatoon), but hope that I can fix it up here.

Wayne,

Elbow pain is usually caused by doing curls with a straight bar.  To grip the
bar you have to turn your palms upwards by twisting the forearm.  This places
mechanical strain on the elbow.  The remedy is to use an EZ curl bar or
dumbells.  Stop using a straight bar for curls.

trying to eat healthy and on the go a lot.
Most of it fits into the hardcore bodybuilding (we just eat MORE) than
most guys. Still I liked the list!!

Good video.  It definitely gets me thinking about some options for eating on the run.  Just watch the sodium content!!

That's the main problem you'll run into with anythinig pre-packaged...the sodium content is going to be high.

I will check out the yogurt though.

Most everyone trying to build muscle is looking for the quickest way
to gain lean muscle and make it a quick recovery from the exercise
routines they are doing. The question is, what are the right amount to
carbohydrates that they should be consuming?

You should always eat at least 6 times per day feeding your body it's
requirements, and not how much your stomach will fit. With that said, it
is very important that you get at least 30 grams of protein and some of
the quality carbohydrates in your meals. Remember to stay with whole
grains, brown rice,....more

The only time I have pain like that, it's a slight bought of tendonitis. But
that's me. You could always get it checked out to make sure there isn't anything
significant wrong.

Subject: [Bodybuilding for Men] pain on inside of elbow

Hi guys,

After a few months of things going really well, I think I stretched a tendon or
something. Getting too confident, piled on the weight on my bicep curls on now
I've had five days of pain on the inside of my elbows. It is going away and I'm
going to start exercising it again. Maybe I'll try some icing to speed things
up. Any ideas about what this is and how to speed recovery? Thanks for all your
assistance.

That is correct Medial Epicondylitis, go see you your Chiropractor and get treatment and therapy. I believe cold laser therapy helps with this condition. What city are you located in? Could possibly find some graduates in your area that would be qualified sports Doctors.
Hope this helps.

This has happened to me, golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis). Alleve may help, but it didn't go away until I stopped doing curls and other exercises that aggravated it and let it rest with a 6-w cycle program with no curls.

I hope this is the correct place to ask the following questions. I am interested in gaining some serious size especially legs and shoulders. First I would like to know what supplements to use for a 40+ man working out with no access to GEAR?
Second: How do you put serious size on legs...Like Branch, Skye Woods or Rodney St Cloud size?
What is a good routine for bringing out the cannonball in a set of delts?
Lastly, anyone in Baltimore or DC interested in training together?

Do you know what is Basics Of Bodybuilding?

Bodybuilding is a sport of building muscle. Bigger and stronger is the name of
the game. One of the great things about bodybuilding is that you can achieve
great results with only very basic equipment and a few hours of training three
to four times per week.

The key to building bigger and stronger muscles is to keep progressively adding
more and more weight over time. Building bigger muscles is about consistent
regular training, eating properly, getting plenty of rest, and lots of weight
at low repetitions.

As a starting any new exercise program, is important a first check with your
physician before starting a bodybuilding program. In the beginning is important
that you start slow and learn proper technique. Time and time again
professional body builders have said that technique is one of most important
aspects of getting a good workout. It might be helpful to schedule a session
with a professional trainer in the beginning so you start on the right track.
If this is not an option for you there are various instructional books on the
subject of bodybuilding. Above all take the time to learn proper technique.

Lifting heavy weight damages muscle fibers. It is only when the muscles repair
themselves that they grow larger and stronger. For this reason it is very
important that each muscle group is given plenty of rest following each
workout. This is why most body builders alternate muscle groups. For example,
you might work on your back on Monday, your legs on Tuesday, your chest on
Wednesday, and your arms on Friday. Most successful body builders will
recommend that you not work a particular muscle group more than twice per week.

The question may come up of whether it is best to use weight machines or free
weights. The general consensus is that free weights are your best option for
increasing muscle mass. Machines are typically used for isolating muscles and
this is something that only professional body builders need to do before
contest.

The following are some basic exercises for the major muscle groups.

The benefits of a good strength training program are almost endless. Less
disease, happiness and most importantly, showing off your muscles at the beach.

Strength training should be part of everyone's routine. Even if you are low on
time, strength training, according to the ACSM (American College of Sports
Medicine), only needs to be done 2-3 times per week with each session lasting
no more than one hour. For 2-3 hours per week, huge benefits can be realized.

Regular strength training will:
*help you in day to day activities around the house and in your yard. It will
keep you independent which is especially important in the older population.
Imagine not being able to lift a 5 pound bag of flour or take the garbage out
by yourself.

*lower the risk of osteoporosis, hypertension and diabetes.

*help you avoid lower back pain.

*increase bone density which is important for post menopausal women.

*increase muscle mass which burns more calories throughout the day than an
equal amount of fat.

Even with all these benefits, many people are reluctant to start training with
weights. Concerns include injury, incorrect form and for women; not wanting to
grow muscles and look like a man.

When beginning your strength training program, the risk of getting hurt can be
greatly reduced by starting out with machines rather than free weights. As you
become more comfortable with the machines, slowly learn to use free weights. If
you want to stick with the machines, know that they will give you the same
benifits as free weights. As for the concern that women will look like men, it
won't happen without the help of steroids, which you shouldn't even consider
using.

Sometimes when we think of being healthy, we think of eating and running. While
these are important, strength training should never be left out. Strength
training provides benefits to your health that cannot be found with any other
mode of exercise and shouldn't be forgotten.
