Jason Huh overpowered a very strong field at the NPC USA and changed his position in the sport over night. He has become not just the guy who won the USA but a potential Olympia candidate. An incredible transformation from someone who took 4th as a Superheavy last year.
I might be incorrect here but I also believe Jason is the first Asian bodybuilder to take the Superheavies and overall at a NPC national level competition. Way back in the history of the sport the bantamweight class was opened up partly because it was felt that it gave Asian bodybuilders a chance to win a class. Certainly, since then there have been many great Asian bodybuilders, Hidetada Yamagishi has been pretty dominant in many pro shows recently but I've never seen an Asian bodybuilder in the US so dominate an amateur show before.
A few other things to mention. Steve Kuclo looked amazing and should have placed much higher than 6th. He looked right up there with Jason in terms of size and shape, not only to me but several other observers of the show. Here's hoping he goes on to the Nationals and does much better
As always great coverage and photos at Muscular Development Rx Muscle Flexonline
